2006-02-17 [Kaimee]: Linderel I am so impressed with your matching art & poetry corner submissions, what a great idea! :D
2006-02-17 [Linderel]: Hee. =^.^= Thanks you, Kaimees.
2006-02-21 [Doormat]: Fairy tales as in well know...or weird stories that you made into a poem?
2006-03-05 [Shamera]: yes.. i myself has a bit of a question on that.. hmm.. i think i'll post the poem anyways.. I do believe it falls under fairytale. i wrote it from an actual event where my dad explained the rain, twas more myth, but it still has a little to do with the realm of fantasy.
2006-04-07 [Kaimee]: PS, you guys can all ignore that deadline until we say otherwise, keep submitting if you have anything to contribute!!! ^^;
2006-04-08 [pixish]: ^__^ yay!
2006-04-12 [Kaimee]: Ok, new theme everyone :P
2006-04-12 [Linderel]: Hummm. This might be a tad challenging... *pokes at muse*
2006-04-12 [Kaimee]: You can go with anything desert related, or go in the other direction and head for storytelling.. whatever, just relate it somehow :P
2006-04-12 [Linderel]: Yes, I know. But I don't want to force it. :P
2006-04-12 [shadow_of_life]: Bwahahah, 'now well past either badge criteria'! Thanks for the kind words! I am helluva busy right now, because I'm graduating, but I'll do at least one submission per theme :)))
2006-04-13 [Kaimee]: *Grins* Yah, people like you keep the Poetry Corner going ;) We'll have to think of something to reward you with...
2006-04-18 [Chrysilla]: I posted a poem... hope I did it right *oops*
2006-04-20 [pixish]: yes :) good work ^_^
2006-04-20 [Chrysilla]: t y t y *blushes*
2006-05-16 [Shamera]: hehe i have an elder badge! ^^ yay!
2006-05-16 [Doormat]: I think poetry corner needs a new team member...[Sheona] hasnt been seen for about a year.
2006-05-18 [Kaimee]: i hink th potry cornerneers dsome alvhimaohol,
2006-05-18 [pixish]: *pats Kai*
2006-05-19 [Kaimee]: ...yeah, sorry. I'm finding comments like that everywhere today ._.
2006-05-19 [shadow_of_life]: Sorry guys, but I'm not sure I'll be able to post anything this time. I have university entry exams. Please don't get too angry at me if I end up not writing anything.
2006-05-24 [Lady of Lore]: *pokes at muse* give me a bit I may be able to get soemthing out...(shakes muse about a bit to get her going) :P
2006-05-24 [Lady of Lore]: how many poems may we submit? They're sort of streaming in now, :P
2006-05-24 [Linderel]: I don't think there's a limit. Not sure, though.
2006-05-24 [Lady of Lore]: well I'll just keep adding the poems until someone tells me to stop ^-^
2006-05-25 [Kaimee]: Add as many as you want :P
2006-05-25 [Lady of Lore]: Thanks ^_^ i will
2006-05-30 [Kaimee]: Finishing up children, if you've got any last minute changes or additions stick em on, even though it's now past deadline. The page will be cleared and the new theme and deadline announced soon, once that happens late additions are too late :(
2006-05-30 [Linderel]: Hmm. I always thought it would be at the end of the day. Guess not, then.
2006-06-02 [Kaimee]: Your end of the day is almost definitely different from the majority of everyone else on elftown ;) As is mine, as is Pixies, etc. The deadline is pretty fluid and as I said, you have awhile to make any last minute changes, so no griping because the official end didn't fall at the stroke of midnight! ;)
2006-06-02 [Linderel]: Wasn't griping, Kaims. :P Just a notion. :P
2006-06-21 [Kaimee]: [jazzy1020], your poem "Frozen Nostalgia" was removed as it doesn't fit the theme "Arabian Nights". It will not appear in the upcoming issue of The Town Herald.
2006-07-09 [Chrysilla]: Is mine ok? :)
2006-07-10 [Kaimee]: Yup :)
2006-07-13 [Chrysilla]: Yess! I can`t wait for the next issue to come up! *jumps impatiently*
2006-09-30 [shadow_of_life]: I have this one question - the new issue being so late, can we submit more poetry or is everything over?
2006-10-01 [Kaimee]: Go ahead, under the deadline it says to go on and keep submitting for as long as you can ;) Sorry about the delay you guys, I really will try and get it all together as soon as may be :(
2006-10-01 [Elmiira]: I wrote a poem with arabian nights as a theme as lnog as I can say.. but it doesn't really tell about them. :S so well, I don't know then..
2006-10-01 [Elmiira]: okayokay.. it doesn't really fit. I didn't realize it was the book until now when I checked it from google.. it's not the same at all in finnish so. :D
2006-10-19 [shadow_of_life]: Okay, as I promised, here is my submission. I guess I won't miss a single theme here without submitting something. I might even write another one, we'll see. I read again the submission rules, but I didn't find one about the lenght of a poem, so I guess long poems(not extremely long?) are still okay if they're by the theme and written by oneself, right?
2006-10-20 [Kaimee]: Yup, and that's not the longest we've had ;)
2007-03-18 [Kaimee]: [Captain Roadie Of Jingles], you're going to need to think about the theme or your work will be removed.
2007-03-18 [Captain Roadie Of Jingles]: oooops, that slipped by.lol
2007-05-18 [Linderel]: Whoaa, what's this? o_O
2007-05-18 [Shamera]: wow.. it finally ended. XP lol
2007-07-19 [Chrysilla]: Errm... one question. Is there a writers' corner in the herald? I have a short text that would fit to the theme. Thankies in advance.
2007-07-19 [Mordigen]: There is no writers's corner as we didnt want the sections to get too long or out of control, but anything like what you mentioned can always be submitted as a Guest Submission -- just send me a message with the text or a link to where it can be found and we will definately include it in the next issue ^_^
2007-07-22 [Mordigen]: You only have about one week left to get all submissions in---anyone watching and wanting to submit work, please go ahead and post it now! Many thanks
2007-07-23 [Earoluim]: * looks around *
2007-07-23 [Ihsahn]: you were missing and end tag and I fixed it.
2007-07-23 [Mordigen]: oh, thankyou ^_^ I hadn't even noticed
2007-07-23 [Ihsahn]: I tend to notice little things, kind of an annoying habbit.
2007-07-27 [Artsieladie]: I added the "d" in the word 'deadline' regarding the extension. Hope it's ok. :P)
2007-07-27 [Mordigen]: Yay! more entries ^_^ ---- and yes, that is perfectly fine, I'm dyslexic so sometimes I do not notice things like that, heh, so thankyou :)
2007-07-27 [Artsieladie]: You're welcome. :D
2007-07-27 [Earoluim]: good stuff .
2007-08-07 [Mordigen]: The Town Herald - Issue 15
2007-08-07 [Earoluim]: maybe I should take a swing at it
2007-08-07 [Linderel]: Gothic nightmares? Hmmm. So horrory stuff, basically.
2007-08-07 [Earoluim]: yeah, save no boundaires on gore or mind play
2007-08-07 [ceridwen]: I was wondering what that "Gothic" part was supposed to mean.
xP
2007-08-07 [Earoluim]: I hope it is alright that i put two up there . let me know what you all think anyway.
2007-08-07 [Linderel]: Like it says in the FAQ - you can submit as many as you want, as long as they follow the theme. ;3
Although I do think you should separate them, as they are two separate poems... right?
2007-08-08 [Mordigen]: well the theme for the whole issue is "gothic nightmares" so that may be something that may be a bit more difficult to translate into writing --- but basically, not just nightmares, but very dark, deep and demented nightmares....
or things that may be disturbingly or hauntingly beautiful yet frightening...
2007-08-08 [Linderel]: Think E. A. Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker...
2007-08-08 [ceridwen]: Oh. All right. Yes that makes much more sense now.
xP
Though, I had have a mind to write a silly, quirky poem about a nightmare involving those cuddly little "goth" kids.
XD
2007-08-08 [Earoluim]: cool alright then I got some more
2007-08-08 [Mordigen]: hahaha -- well that will fit too, comedy is more than welcome in the Herald :P
2007-08-09 [ceridwen]: Ha. Then... I will probably do that. xD
I'm a quirky poet, not a dark one. =P
2007-09-23 [Mystic Woods]: "Beat Down"
As this world beats me down
I frown.
I drown in all the insults
The result is a girl with her fellings broke down in the ground.
A girl who was cheat out of her life,
screaming out in fright.
Running into the night,
hoping they won't catch up.
Trying not to slip up, so she will not fall.
They built a brick wall ahead to try to stop her from succeding.
Her heart is bleeding,
She is needing someone to belive in her so that she can heal.
But no one seems to see the potential that lies inside of her.
They are behind her-
shoving her, kicking her down.
Not giving her a chance.
Nobody takes a second glance
at the girl who was beat down by the world.

2007-09-24 [Kaimee]: You need to edit the page and add you submission to the bottom of the list if you want it to be considered :) The poetry will be selected only from those on the page before the deadline.
2007-11-02 [the obvious child]: Hey all - since you're all poets I thought some of you might be interested in submitting some writing to the magazine I edit. More info on my bio, or at www.readthisma
2007-11-09 [Lady of Lore]: Question: The theme is beauty so is my poem about the beauty of nature along the right lines?
2007-11-09 [Artsieladie]: "Beauty" is a very broad topic & it is said that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. ;)
2007-12-05 [Captain Roadie Of Jingles]: no...beauty is said to lie in the eye of the "beer"holder.l
2007-12-05 [Kaimee]: Beauty is very broad, and one of the reasons we considered this theme was the vast differences everyone would find in their own perceptions of beauty, so write what you want and it'll be welcome ;)
2007-12-06 [Captain Roadie Of Jingles]: thank you much!
2007-12-06 [Linderel]: Hope these fit. :3
2007-12-06 [Mordigen]: i think they fit just fine -- like kaimee said, beauty is very broad, and must we remember the age olde saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so there is no right or wrong here ;) there is room for tons of interpretation
2007-12-31 [Savanna x3]: Hey.. uhmm I wasn't sure where to add the note, so I put it after my name. If that isn't OK, just let me know and I'll be sure to remove it ASAP!
2007-12-31 [Mordigen]: lol, no that's fine ;)
2008-07-08 [Linderel]: Is this thing still alive?
2008-07-08 [Mordigen]: Yes it is :)
2008-07-08 [Linderel]: Any idea when the next issue will actually be forthcoming? :P
2008-07-08 [Mordigen]: Unfortunately, I cannot give you an exact date :(. It has not died, it is just very slow gowing at the moment, due to real-life, health and personal issues that trump an online Volunteer E-Zine :(. We are all sorry about that, and hope to get it out ASAP, but the fact of the matter is we all have to take care of ourselves first, and make sure our real lives dont come crumbling down before putting work into the Herald. It's unfortunate, but sometimes it has to happen....
We are all still here, and working, though, just at a much slower than wanted pace :(.
I'll guarantee you though, as soon as it is out and ready, everyone will know -- we will not be shy about bragging ;)
2008-07-08 [Linderel]: Haha. I'd volunteer, but the truth is, I'm going to be busy with organising my move halfway across the country, reading, other ET and WritersCo responsibiliti
2008-07-08 [Mordigen]: Lol, that's quite alright :) Thanks for the thought though!
2008-08-20 [Grandamelf]: Boo Hoo! I put two poems in this last issue and never got a badge.
2008-08-20 [Chimes]: Do you mean the badge in your badge slot? If so, that's for Herald staff, Heralders. But I do believe you could have one of the badges on Town Herald Honourable Mentions for submitting.
- To any other Heralder, please correct me if I'm wrong!
2008-08-20 [Hendercrazy]: Yeah, I believe you're spot on [Chimes]... [Grandamelf] should qualify for the Honorable Mention Badge. [Mordigen] has been busy lately off and on... maybe she hasn't seen this yet? I'm not exactly sure who else has badge powers.
2008-08-21 [Grandamelf]: I mean in Poety Corner There are no winners just participation badges!
2008-08-21 [Mordigen]: I did give you a badge [Grandamelf] -- double check your Guestbook, that's where we issue them. It should be there unless one of the crashes knocked out the entry I made, in which case I can re-do it no prob. :)
2008-08-22 [Grandamelf]: Dear [Mordigen] I have double checked and the only one there is the one for art! Not a thing for poetry. I do believe that might have been about the time of the crash, so I would be greatful if you would issue one for me. Thank you! [Grandamelf]
2008-08-22 [Mordigen]: No prob ;)
2008-08-27 [Linderel]: Might be stretching the theme a bit, your call. :P
2008-08-27 [Mordigen]: no, i love it :) I think it fits quite nicely.
2008-08-27 [Linderel]: Great ^_^
2008-08-29 [Chetleon]: SO can anyone recommend any good novels in verse? I've become interested in the field recently.
2008-08-29 [windowframe]: The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, Ovid's Metamorphoses, Lucan's Civil War, or Dante's Divine Comedy are all excellent.
2008-08-30 [Chetleon]: I read the Divine Comedy, and the Iliad. But is the Aeneid as good as everyone says?
2008-08-30 [Linderel]: I'm really tempted to ask to hold this conversation at the Poetry Discussion page xD *wants life there*
2008-08-30 [windowframe]: Yeah, I think it is. Dido's death in Book IV is fantastic.
2008-08-30 [Chetleon]: Okay, I'll move my conversations there...
2008-10-08 [Doormat]: Steam what?
2008-10-08 [Linderel]: http://en.wiki
2008-10-08 [Doormat]: Are you cereal? :O
2008-10-08 [Linderel]: ... Que?
2008-10-08 [Doormat]: The horrible pun way of saying "are you serious?" :S.
GL for anyone writing this month :S.
2008-10-08 [Linderel]: Yeah, the theme is certainly an interesting one to apply to poetry.
But never let it be said that I back away from a challenge! Now if only I found the time... It's fortunate that the deadline is so far.
2008-10-09 [Mordigen]: I don't understand - why is everyone falling out over the theme?
2008-10-09 [Linderel]: Because it's difficult? :D
Prose? No problem! Poetry? Uhm... gimme a minute here...
But two people doesn't really equal 'everyone'. :P
2008-10-09 [Chimes]: I reckon it'd work in ballad style, definitely. :]
2008-10-09 [Mordigen]: I could definately think of many things that wold work :)
well, ok, no, 2 people doesn't equal everyone - it just seemed like a bigger convo then it was XD excuse me a moment lol
2008-10-09 [Linderel]: Depends on what sort of thing you're used to writing. ;3
I imagine this theme will take me even further away from my comfort zone than sonnets or villanelles. It's not a bad thing at all - it just means I'll be having a few more difficulties than usual in getting it right. :P
2008-10-09 [Mordigen]: well see thats the beauty about art and poetry -- there is no "right" and "wrong" even though we do have a theme - there are endless ways people can interpret that theme ;)
2008-10-09 [Chimes]: :D Interpretation is a wonderful thing.
2008-10-09 [Linderel]: Yes, but I meant right for me. That is: good enough. ;3
2008-10-10 [Doormat]: At first I thought it was... http://store.s
o.0
2009-01-12 [Linderel]: You're going to regret not setting a limit for entries per person... xD
2009-01-12 [Chimes]: Hahaha, naaaah. :] It just makes the poetry corner more exciting with more poems. :] Even if they are pretty much all from the same person.
2009-01-12 [Linderel]: Clearly, more people should be made aware of its existence.
2009-01-12 [Chimes]: Hmm... for which I had an idea... maybe you could link to here from the daily poem? And we could link to that from here?
2009-01-12 [Linderel]: You mean I haven't already? o_O *goes check*
2009-01-12 [Linderel]: It is there, in the 'Advertisement
2009-01-12 [Chimes]: I have once. :P But I forget anything that isn't a rule normally.
2009-01-12 [Linderel]: You're probably in the minority xD
2009-01-12 [Chimes]: Awwwh.
2009-01-14 [Mordigen]: Wow! i go to work over the weekend and this place explodes XD
2009-01-14 [Linderel]: My fault, mostly :P
2009-01-14 [Chimes]: Hehe. :)
2009-01-14 [Chetleon]: I found the this page from the Daily Poem. But then again, I spend alot of time looking at submissions.
There are some very interesting ones these days.
2009-01-17 [Doormat]: *Waits for someone to plagiarize "The Hollow Men"* :3
2009-01-17 [Chetleon]: Why "the Waste Land"?
2009-01-19 [Doormat]: Whoops :/
2009-01-19 [Chetleon]: Oh. Ha, I didn't plagarize it, if that's what you're talking about, I just used the same formula as him for the ending, sort-of like my private little tribute to him, and elaborated on it.
2009-02-08 [Doormat]: I wasn't even aware that anyone did anything close to "The Hollow Men" o_0.
2009-02-08 [Chetleon]: Oh. I thought you were talking about one of my poems, "The Virgin Slaughtering", I used the same set-up for the ending of it.
Oh well, nevermind!
2009-02-26 [Linderel]: Hm. Could I still submit, since the issue seems to be delayed?
2009-02-26 [Chimes]: Yeah you can still submit, seeing as the poems are all still here. :P
2009-02-26 [Linderel]: Just checking. :P
2009-02-26 [Chimes]: Even after they disappear, if the issue hasn't been published, if you sent something to Mordi, I'm sure she wouldn't mind putting it in. ^^ For future reference
2009-02-26 [Linderel]: Mmkay. :3
2009-03-02 [Mordigen]: [Chimes] is exactly right :) Even if this page has been officially closed, if the issue itself hasn't been published yet -- you can *always* message me directly and I can add it in .......in fact, we LOVE it when that happens! ;P
2009-03-06 [Chetleon]: MMm, anyone decided on a new subject matter yet? For submissions, I ought to add. .
2009-04-13 [Alexi Ice]: Lin - You can laugh at me if you wish but I seriously have telephonephobi
2009-04-14 [Linderel]: Indeed?
2009-04-14 [Alexi Ice]: I do seriously. It drives me insane. I can't even answer phone calls.
2009-04-14 [Linderel]: You might want to try and do something about that.
2009-04-14 [Alexi Ice]: I know, I need councling that I can't afford. Too bad I can't interview myself. Lol.
2009-06-30 [Nioniel]: When will the next theme be posted?
2009-06-30 [Kaimee]: Very soon, after the current issue is released :) Keep an eye on The Town Herald to let you know when the new Herald is out.
2009-06-30 [Nioniel]: Okey-dokey!
2009-07-31 [Alexi Ice]: Hope I submitted that right <3
2009-07-31 [Linderel]: *blink* What's with the capitals?
2009-07-31 [Alexi Ice]: Awww crap! Sorry. It's a really bad habit. Fixed.
2009-07-31 [FlowerGirl21]: I love this card theme!
2009-09-04 [Kaimee]: Glad to hear it! :)
2010-01-24 [pegasus1000]: was going to add a poem, then realized that September is both to far gone and to far away for this one to still be open.
2010-01-26 [Kaimee]: It is actually still open, we all just got hit with real life x.X until it says closed, it's not closed :P
2010-01-26 [Alexi Ice]: .< Stupid real life.
2010-04-19 [River Fox]: spelling err, rule #2 Poetry should fit the give(n) theme. Please check above to see what the theme is.
2010-04-20 [Alexi Ice]: River Fox, who are you talking to?
2010-04-20 [River Fox]: any one that is able to correct the error. Do you where I could get that information?
2010-04-20 [River Fox]: never mind *feels aware* forgot where I was for a sec
2010-04-20 [Alexi Ice]: Uh ^^' Ok. And contacting [Kaimee] is the best way to get things done around here.
2010-04-20 [Kaimee]: Whoops, between Mordigen and myself editing this page over the years, we tend to occasionally break each others sentences ;)
2010-04-20 [River Fox]: it happens
2010-07-29 [*Phoenix*]: Thanks.
2010-07-29 [Kaimee]: It's great to see new work here, and new contributors!
2010-07-29 [*Phoenix*]: Well, you can thank [Nioniel]. She invited me. I had thought about contributing once, but it was a long time ago.
2010-07-29 [Kaimee]: [Nioniel] has been doing really great work recently, doesn't she ever sleep? :P
2010-07-29 [Nioniel]: Only when I'm working on official stuff, it's a talent I learned in college. :P
2010-07-29 [Kaimee]: Stalker :P
2010-07-29 [Nioniel]: hehe.
2010-07-29 [Nioniel]: For real? O.o
Goodness.
2010-07-29 [*Phoenix*]: Not exactly that bad, but I honestly do look up to you. ^_^
2010-07-29 [Nioniel]: Awww!
Well, we all appreciate you helping out here!
2010-07-29 [*Phoenix*]: I'm enjoying working here, esp. since you need the help. :]
2010-07-29 [Kaimee]: It's really great to see people participating :)
2010-07-31 [*Phoenix*]: ^_^ UmmHmmm. I'll cheer to that. *cheers*
2010-09-03 [Kaimee]: New theme posted! Short deadline this time around, so make sure if you want something included you get it in soon! :)
2010-09-04 [Linderel]: *goes look through her poetry* Hmm. Nope. Going to have to write something new.
2010-09-05 [Kaimee]: Good! >:P
2010-09-16 [maliceman]: i am new here. if i want my poetry publicly viewed what do i do?
2010-09-17 [Linderel]: You have a few options there. You can either
a) put your poetry up in your house;
b) set up a wiki for your poetry and link that in your house;
c) submit to this Poetry Corner of The Town Herald if you have something which fits the current theme; or
d) submit to the Daily Poem (but make sure to read the rules first!).
Of course, nothing should stop you from doing all of these. :)
2011-01-22 [Akayume]: I have just discovered this page. :O
2011-01-22 [Linderel]: o_o
2011-01-22 [Akayume]: Yes. DX I didn't even know it existed until now, and I've been here for... ohhh, about 6 years now. DX
2011-01-30 [Kaimee]: Fail :P
2011-01-30 [Akayume]: Hey now. X3 I are special, kay?
2011-01-30 [Kaimee]: Hehe kay :P
2011-01-30 [Akayume]: Goot.
2011-04-18 [Alexi Ice]: Oh! These are all so good!! O.o
2011-08-16 [kians mummy]: Whats the theme now?
2011-08-19 [kians mummy]: Ok then :)
2011-12-23 [Earoluim]: May I just submit one...... ?
2011-12-23 [kians mummy]: Herald Guest Submissions is the place to submit. :)
The poetry corner has not re-opened as of yet. :)
